I have to share this blog link. The family in the blog adopted an older girl who is about 11years old and has HIV and a baby who also has HIV plus they have their own bio 2 year old. They have been home for 6 months now. The post that she wrote about their 2 adopted Russian children really struck me because our children too will have vivid and painful memories that they will be able to share one day. I don't know how to begin to prepare my heart as a mother to process the deep pain that my children have gone through.
Adoption always begins because of tragedy. Our children have been rejected in such a huge way already and we already feel protective of them. We want to keep them from any rejection that we can once they are in our care.
Soon they will have a Mommy's hand to hold when they go to sleep instead of just a blanket.
