We had a really good trip home! I thought that we would be so finished with being away from home that we would not want to do any sight seeing along the way. In reality we would have liked to spend another week just seeing the sights! After staying the night in Flagstaff AZ we booked tickets to the Imax at Grand Canyon. This was the first time our kids had been to an Imax theater. In fact it was their first movie theater experience ever and so it was fun to be introduced to the Grand Canyon Imax style before going to see the real thing. Afterwards we drove up to the park to do some sight seeing.
This was our first stop and it was beautiful but this TOOK MY BREATH AWAY!!!!!!! That is only a 1 mile drop off an inch away from Travis's heal and maybe his posterior is slightly over the edge???? I nearly left my heart at the Grand Canyon! But........we have a great picture! Everyone looks surprisingly happy considering that their mother might be freeeeeeeking out just a little!
We had a little picnic lunch a nice distance from the edge of the Grand Canyon.
My little cowboys! Coco bought 2 hats on this trip. One in Mexico which was this nice straw cowboy hat and one he purchased at the Hover Dam which was a construction hat with a light on the front. He is so proud of his dam hat that it dominated his discussions the first few days in Mexico. Mason and him had many conversations about his dam hat.
This is our only family picture at the Grand Canyon and this one we will not be framing and putting on the wall! Not my favorite picture but it proves we were there all together.
We drove up to Moab, Utah for the night and it was a beautiful drive.
As we continued on our journey we stopped at a tourist info center and next door was a dinasour museum that we decided to take a walk through. This was in Fruita, Colorado
Making some tracks.
We could feel what an earth quake would feel like.
Then we drove through the Colorado National Monument. Wow! This was so worth the extra miles of winding mountain driving!
There were lots of rock tunnels to drive through. The kids wanted to run up to the tunnel so we let them out. My Dad taught me that signs are often just suggestions while traveling.
Beautiful views.
My children never have attitude!
Travis and JT climbed up to the top.
We stayed in a bit of an interesting hotel during our 2nd last night and they said we could have 20 min to swim even though the pool had closed but the front desk girl couldn't find the lights so we swam in the dark. That's what you get for being cheap and booking through PriceLine. Oh well at least we didn't pay much to stay there!
Our last night in Bismark ND was peaceful We slept in and made it home by about 4:ooPM. Everyone was happy to be home but sad that our trip was done. What a great opportunity this was to travel with our family and learn so many things, see God's marvelous creation and meet many precious people. We feel blessed and thankful that we were able to take this trip and maybe one day we can do it again!
Looks so fun! Before I had even read your comment about how close Travis was to that ledge, I was experiencing butterflies for you!! Eek!
ReplyDeleteIt still gives me butterflies to look at the picture and I dream about him falling too! Crazy!
