Winter @ Wisconsin Dells

Last week our family took a trip 10 hours (that is on good roads) South East of home for a little holiday.  We would have liked to travel about 30 hours further South but time just didn't allow for that.  We were treated to some beautiful weather though.

After being sick all of January and half of February we were ready to exit this flu infested house and take a break!  We were all finally healthy and were looking forward to some water parking and down hill skiing.  We found a hotel that had a waterpark as well as a ski resort and all of the waterpark passes and lift tickets were included in our stay.  Our kids love history so staying at Hotel Rome was fun for them!  We left early Monday morning and arrived in Wisconsin Dells for supper and a few hours at the water park.

The next morning we got fitted for ski/board rentals and hit the hill at noon.  It only took 1 run down the bunny hill and everyone was hooked!  They said "we didn't think it would be this fun!" After mastering the bunny hill we hit the chair lifts for the rest of the day.  We had planned to stay until close at 9pm so we could night ski but after 6 hours of skiing everyone was falling down and so we packed it in for the day.

Chalise and Coden learned so fast!  We had watched some instructional videos on YouTube and they just took off reminding each other to "pizza slice."  The were taking some little jumps and had no problems with using the chair lifts.
Travis skied for he first day so that he could help with Coden but joined the older boys and changed over to boarding for the second day.  We also skied from 12-3 and then went to the hotel for a nap then went back to ski from 5-9.  It got very warm during the day +8 so the runs were a bit slow but during night skiing that all changed!  The snow was fast and the little ones got way more speed than their Mother was comfortable with but they could beat Dad down the hill so they were pumped!

We all slept very well after our days on the hill!
When we were not skiing this place kept us busy.
Because we were in Wisconsin Dells during the week and in the winter it was dead!  We never waited in line for a water slide or a ski lift.
Our last evening in the Dells I googled which was the best restaurant in town and I found a place called MACS that was #2.  This place takes Mac & Cheese to a whole new level!  We had BaconRanchChicken Mac, PhillySteakMac, and a PulledBBQPorkMac.  We were all a little leery at fist but the reviews were right on the money.  We had a great meal!
It rained on our last day and so the driving conditions were less that optimal and it took us 12 hours to get to Grand Forks but we made it safely and so we were happy!
