What is Up With Your Adoption??

It has been a long time since I had done an adoption update!!

We have been watching the on-goings in Ukraine for the past few months.  We have been praying for the people of Ukraine that freedom would reign there and that the violence would stop.
We had a meeting with our agency to talk about it and they were reassuring us that this would not affect adoptions but we were not so sure.  We were also told at the start of this process that we would be required to stay in Ukraine 4-6 weeks to complete the adoption and while we knew this would be a stretch for our family we believed that we could overcome it.  As I was reading other families blogs who were currently or recently in Ukraine on their adoption trips this time didn't seem to be realistic.  It was more like 6-8 + weeks that we would have to be gone.  Our agency confirmed this and we were not comfortable with that.  We just can't leave our 5 children with out parents for 2 months.  So we felt that it would be best for us to change countries.  At this point we had completed all the Canadian/Manitoba requirements and so if we were going to change now would be the time.  So as our agency is changing our home study over to Bulgaria we have a few documents to finish up as well.

About 3 weeks after we decided to pull out of Ukraine adoptions closed down there because of the violence and political instability there.  It is unknown when adoptions will resume there.

This is the plan for right now although the Lord may have something else up His sleeve and we just want to follow.  We know that His heart is for adoption and orphans and we want to go with His time and His plan.
