We are so excited to have received THE phone call! On Tuesday June 2nd, first thing in the morning, Travis had gone to work and I was home when Oleg from our agency called with the news of a referral. He said that they have a girl from 2004 and a boy from 2005 and they are healthy. That is all the information we got! The rest of the information was still being translated and needed to be signed by the province before we could see it. In an act of God the province of MB signed our file within 2 days! We scheduled an in person meeting with Oleg at our agency on Friday that week so that he could present everything including pictures to us. We were so excited to see pictures and learn more about them! Friday afternoon arrived and Travis came home to pick me up to go to the city and with in a few minutes of him getting home Coden had a bad fall off of our water slide and onto the dock. So we ended up in the ER and in surgery instead of in Winnipeg at our agency's office.
Oleg ended up e-mailing us our full referral details so that we could still have them. So we met these two precious children and experienced an emergency with another one of our children all in the same day. Emotions were going crazy! While Coden was in surgery we were googling these children's home town to find out where they live and combing over all the details that were written in the referral. Then the surgeon called us to let us know that he was done but he found 2 more breaks in Coden's arm but things went well. He placed 3 pins above his elbow where the Humerus was broken completely off of the elbow, he had to set the break on the radial bone and the fracture on the ulna did not need to be set. So we spent the night in the hospital and didn't sleep at all. Morphine apparently keeps Coden awake. 3 days post surgery we had only slept 7 hours total. He was in so much discomfort that nothing could settle him during the night. We got through the weekend and finally got to make our appointment in Winnipeg where we were expecting to get travel dates however we did not get dates but we did get more pictures and that was so exciting. They are beautiful children and our hearts and prayers are with them! Please pray for them during this tumultuous time in their lives. We will share pictures with you our family and friends once we have met them in person.
We hope to get our travel dates arranged early this next week but we are expecting the second week in July. It is hard to believe that one month from now we could be in Bulgaria meeting our 2 children! Once we go, we will spend 5 days together to get acquainted. We will have a translator with us for the duration of the trip but we also found out that they study English in school. We are also doing our best to learn some basic Bulgarian. Doberden?
While our process has seemed long and drawn out God has had his hand in the timing in a divine way! We spent an abundance of time putting together our Ukrainian adoption and when their war broke out we decided to change countries. Then we pursued a possible open door to adopt from Mexico and when that door closed in Winter of 2014 we started to gather documents for Bulgaria. Our dossier was submitted to Bulgaria at the beginning of April 2015 and our referral was picked for us at the beginning of May, 2015. That is incredibly fast for international adoption in any country! God speed! This is His story and we are along for the ride.
Congratulations! I look forward to more updates.
