Almost There! Mexico update #1

Hello!

We have been busy travelling through the states and today we arrived in Tucson Az and in the morning we will cross over into Mexico!  So here is a recap of our trip so far!

We left on Wednesday at 5:30pm after having supper at home.  We made a quick stop at Target in Grand Forks and then started our long trek.  We drove though the night and it went as well as could be expected.  The older boys both had a good sleep on the back seat of the Yukon and S,C and Coco shared the middle bench and didn't fare as well but they did manage to sleep some.  Travis drove until 2:00am and then I traded him off until 4:00am.  The crew all woke up by 6:00am when we stopped for fuel.  So we all stretched our legs and got breakfast out of the cooler.  The older boys then went to the front so that I could stretch out and sleep in the back seat.  After a good 2 hrs with a set of ear plugs in I woke up to the crew experiencing their first mountain sightings!  They were stunned!
We arrived in Salt Lake City at about 3pm and got to our hotel which had a water park, free supper and breakfast.  We slept VERY well that night and were ready at a bight and early 11:00am to keep driving.  After stopping at Krispy Cream to watch doughnuts being made and of course to taste them we continued on South towards Las Vegas.

We made a pit stop for some hiking and mountain/canyon viewing at Zion National Park.  It was stunning!!!!  All of us were in awe of the wonderful creation!  What a creative God we serve!

Because we spent quite a bit of time hiking we only arrived in Las Vegas after dark.  We got to see all the lights but after explaining to the crew that this is called "sin city"  they were all adamant that we exit the city as fast as possible to find a different place to stay.  We didn't want to violate their consciences so we drove to the next town which is right next to Hoover Dam as we wanted to be there in the morning.  Boulder City, as we now know has very little options as far as accommodations goes so we ended up at the Sand's Motel.  Don't stay there if you are ever visiting Boulder City.  Enough said.  After a night that felt like it would never end (not completely the fault of the accommodations) we got up to go see the Hoover Dam.  Travis loves history and architecture so this was up his ally!

Lunch on a parking lot in Pheonix AZ.
Finally after a long day on the road we arrived here in Tucson Az. and met up with Brian and Clarissa!  We found a hotel, the kids played in the pool and the fun has officially begun!  Our 12 days with them will be all too short!  It is so good to see them and their kids!

We can't wait to see what Mexico has in store for us! Praise the Lord for great travelling!  We have only used 10 of our 40 hours worth of audio books so we have lots of entertainment to get us all the way home.
I will try to get pics up soon!
Mandy
