Coke

January 8th

Today we had some street ministry plans in mind.  We, together with our children had been saving some money to do a few projects together with Brian and Clarissa as families so in the morning Travis and Brian went to purchase a couple hundrend bottles of Coke and a dozen food hampers for us to hand out.  Mean while, Clarissa and I took the kids to a beautiful beach to play, swim and find crabs.  The sun was very nice however the breeze made it cool but that didn't hamper the fun at all. At this time of year the Gulf of California is too cold for swimming but they still got wet while running down the sand dunes and into the water.  To one side of the beach there were large crashing waves that were thrilling to see but in the bay where we were the waters were calm.

T
There some great sand dunes at the beach that the kids loved running down!
At lunch time we went back to Brian and Clarissa's house for pizza.  Leah and Coden were both due for an afternoon nap so Brian and Travis took the others out to visit a lady whom was having a hard time and start up the sidewalk Coke/scripture distribution. They set up at a busy bus stop with the bottles of Coke, tracts and Bibles to hand out to city bus travelers.  Clarissa and I joined them just after they had started.  I put Leah into my Ergo carrier and she was snug as a bug while we handed out the copies of God's word and prayed for people on the street corner.  The guys got onto buses and handed out Coke and bibles and the people would start reading right away!  It was so cool!  There were people who stopped to receive prayer.  There was one young Mom who stood out for us.  She spoke English because she had lived in California and she had given her life to Christ years ago but was searching for which religion was the right one because so many used the name of God and so she was confused.  She was very glad for clarification and excited to receive spiritual help.  Clarissa held her very sweet baby as Travis and Juan Carlos helped her understand truth.  When she gave her her baby back she invited her to come to the Fatima kids club with her kids to interact with other believers.
This is the young mom named Rayna who was so spiritually hungry.  She received answers and a group of believers to get plugged in to.

Once the Coke was gone we packed up and went to deliver food hampers.  We teamed up with a pastor couple to bring needy families a bag of groceries.  We saw such poverty and it was very sad.  Our older kids were speechless.  C LOVED giving the young kids in the families Coke when we arrived at a home.
One family we visited had a blind 4 year old boy.  The Mother and Father were very concerned for their son and his future.  Juan Carlos gave them the message of Jesus Christ and they were saved right there.  It was such an amazing experience to see this young family see their need for Christ and accept the gift of salvation!!!  What a highlight and privilege to witness this and to pray for them as they start a new life with Christ.  They were directed to the pastor's church and we will continue to pray for them as well!  After a few more houses we packed it in because it was already 8 pm and we needed to have some supper.
