Train Station, Mexico

This morning we got up EARLY to be at the Train Station homeless mens ministry.  These men are the poorest of the poor and have nothing to their name.  Many of them are coming to Christ through this ministry and getting help for their addiction issues.  I am so glad that we had the opportunity to participate here!  

The regular ministry crew started off with Praise and worship songs

 Then our group sang our Spanish songs.

 Then they recieved their warm meal for the week.  Most of these men eat out of garbage cans the rest of the week.  There was so much food that everyone got 3 bowls full of rice, beans, meat and tortillas.

 The men were very willing to talk.  Even if you couldn't understand them!

 The girls loved dishing out the food.  S has been very impacted by this experience and we look forward to seeing how it shapes her world views once we return home.  She would like to stay and live here!

 I brought a few warm spring jackets from home that we had bought at the Fields store in Altona when they were closing out.  This morning I just had a feeling that there might be a girl at the train station that would need a jacket so I brought one along even though this was mainly a mens ministry.  Sure enough there was a girl there and she was cold.  Anna (who speaks Spanish) started talking with her Mom and they had just moved to this area of town at the end of December.  She is a Christian but knows no one who is a believer in the area.  She had heard the music from her home and came to see who was playing the worship songs.  Through giving the jacket to her daughter, Anna connected her with the head of the Train Station Ministry (the lady in red) and she now has a church to attend and she is going to be helping with this homeless ministry every Saturday morning.  God moves in wonderful ways!

After the Train Station was done we went to start a new kids club in a church in Indpendencia.  All of the kids clubs that we are doing are 2 days long.  So this is a repeat of the program we lead in Santa Clara.  The pastors are hoping to start kids programs of their own similar to Fatima but are not sure where to start so this is giving them ideas of things to do.  This church served lunch to the kids after the craft was done.
